Tracking for Content Protection
Find out who is republishing your work without paying for it.
When your articles are republished without a licence, that’s revenue leaving your business.
Opoint Tracking shows you where your content appears, who published it, and how much they used it, so you can act on it.
Unauthorised republication is a licensing problem
Every article republished without a licence is a licence that was not bought. It is not only a reputational issue or a matter of principle. It is money that should have reached you and did not.
The difficulty has never been caring about it.
The difficulty is finding it.
Republication happens across thousands of sites, in multiple languages, often with the text altered just enough to make a manual search useless. Most publishers discover infringement by accident, months later, if at all.
Opoint Tracking finds it systematically.
Find who's republishing your work
Unauthorised reproduction can dilute your brand’s impact and divert revenue to sites without your consent.
Opoint Tracking spots infringement, so you can:
- Quickly detect unauthorised republishing of your articles.
- Identify individuals and organisations misusing your content.
- Take decisive action, stop misuse and claim rightful compensation.
How It Works
We match against everything we crawl
Each article Opoint indexes is compared against your uploaded content and given a similarity score. Identical content scores 100. Partial reuse, quotation, and altered text score lower, in proportion to the extent your original appears.
You set the threshold
The default flags anything scoring above 20. Tighten it to catch only near-verbatim copies, or loosen it to surface heavier paraphrasing. You decide what counts.
Results arrive where you need them
Pull matches through the API into your own systems, or use the interface, which shows matched content with screenshots for verification.

Real Results
Visapress is Portugal’s press clipping and copyright management organisation. Within weeks of implementing Opoint Tracking, they had a clear picture of how their content was being used online. They identified the infringements, contacted the offending sites, and enforced their rights.
Licensed, linked, and accountable
Opoint delivers structured news data to platforms used by financial institutions, risk and compliance teams, and media monitoring organisations. How that works matters to the publishers whose content is in the feed:
- Every delivery links back to the original article
Opoint delivers the URL and metadata. Content is never hosted and never republished in full. - Readers land on your site
The clicks come from analysts, executives, and decision-makers, not passing consumer traffic. - Access is licensed and identified
Data goes to named B2B customers under licensed access. It is not sold on the open market or repurposed - Licensing agreements are held directly
Opoint holds active agreements with rights management organisations and publishers including the CLA (UK), CFC (France), Visapress (Portugal), MBL (Norway), NLA (UK), FT.com, Reuters, and MT Newswires. - Industry participation
Opoint is a member of FIBEP (International Federation of Press Clipping Agencies) and AMEC, and an observer at PDLN (Press Distribution and Licensing Network).

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Opoint find republished content?
Opoint's crawler continuously indexes 250,000+ sources across 230 jurisdictions. We compare every article we index against your uploaded content using a similarity scoring system. Identical content scores 100. Partial reuse, altered text, and quotations score lower, in proportion to how much of your original appears in the matched article. You set the threshold; we surface everything above it.
Will it catch content that has been edited or partially copied?
Yes. The similarity scoring is designed to catch near-verbatim copies, heavy paraphrasing, and partial reuse, not just identical reproduction. If a site has taken your article and changed the headline and opening paragraph, the score reflects the proportion of your original text that remains. You can adjust the threshold to control how broadly or narrowly matches are flagged.
What can I do once I find an infringement?
That depends on your rights and your relationship with the offending site. Some publishers use match data to approach sites directly and convert unauthorised use into a licensing agreement. Others pass findings to a rights management organisation or legal team to pursue enforcement. Opoint provides the evidence: the matched article, its source URL, a screenshot, the similarity score, and the publication timestamp. What you do with it is your decision.
How is Opoint licensed to use news content?
Opoint holds active licensing agreements with rights management organisations and publishers, including the CLA (UK), CFC (France), Visapress (Portugal), MBL (Norway), NLA (UK), FT.com, Reuters, and MT Newswires. Opoint is also a member of FIBEP (International Federation of Press Clipping Agencies) and AMEC, and an observer at PDLN (Press Distribution and Licensing Network). Content is never hosted or republished in full; every delivery links back to the original source URL.
How are matches delivered?
You can pull matches through the Tracking API into your own systems, or access them through Opoint's interface, which displays matched content alongside screenshots for verification. Each match includes the source URL, publication timestamp, similarity score, and a screenshot of the matched page. Full technical documentation is available at api-docs.opoint.com.
